2008 is expected to be a strong growth year for the IT investments of businesses in the region, offering new opportunities for IT vendors, suppliers and service providers. The talk is once again around the SMEs. India’s small and medium-sized firms are predicted to increase their expenditures on IT by 20 per cent in 2008. Banking, financial services and manufacturing will be the leading players to drive the IT spending in India. India is also predicted to be the fastest growing market for IT spending. The 20% increase in 2008 will mean a total spending of $9.6 billion.
IT expenditure of small and medium-sized businesses in the Asia-Pacific region as a whole is predicted to touch $95.8 billion in 2008 with India, China, South Korea and Australia playing major role. The predicted amount is 14 per cent higher than that of last year.
